Who this checklist is for
This Claude tricks checklist is for anyone who uses Claude or ChatGPT at work but still types one question and takes the first answer, the way you would use a search box. Owners, managers, accounts teams and freelancers all fall into that habit. The ten items below are things you can try in your next chat.
The first four are prompt habits that work in any AI assistant. The rest are Claude features, checked against Anthropic's own help pages in November 2026. Some are rolling out by plan, so if you do not see one yet, check your plan and settings.
The 10 tricks, in the order of the reel
Say "ask me questions first"
Before it writes anything, ask it to ask you what it needs to know. The answer then fits your situation instead of a generic one.
Paste your own writing for your tone
Paste two or three emails or posts you wrote and ask it to match them. This is the simplest way to stop answers sounding like AI.
Ask it to check against your file
After it answers from a document, ask it to check each point against the file and quote where it found it. Anything it cannot point to is worth checking yourself.
Upload a photo of any page or bill
Photos and screenshots can be attached to a chat and asked about: a printed page, a bill, an error on screen. Do not upload ID numbers, passwords or client data you are not allowed to share.
Projects: files it always remembers
A Project is a workspace for one ongoing piece of work. Add the files and a few lines of instructions once, and every chat inside it starts with them.
Memory: it remembers how you work
With Memory on in Settings, Claude remembers your team, projects and preferences across chats. You can read and edit what it remembers at any time.
Charts drawn right inside the chat
Ask for a chart or a simple diagram and Claude draws it in the conversation, which is handy for a quick look at numbers you pasted.
Real Excel files with working formulas
Claude can create real files to download: Excel sheets with working formulas, several tabs and conditional formatting, as well as documents, PDFs and slide decks.
Connectors: it reads Gmail and Drive
Under Customize > Connectors you can link apps such as Google Drive, Gmail, Calendar or Microsoft 365, so Claude can read them. On work plans an admin may need to approve them first.
Cowork tasks that run on a schedule
In Cowork you can set up a task that repeats on a schedule or runs when you ask. Few people know it exists, and it is the closest step from chatting with AI to having it do recurring work.
