01

What the RBT competency assessment involves

The RBT Initial Competency Assessment is how a qualified assessor confirms that a trainee can perform the skills of a Registered Behavior Technician. After the 40-hour training, the assessor observes the candidate on each required task, some with a client and some by role-play or interview, and records whether each one is demonstrated.

The official packet from the BACB defines the tasks and the rules. What it does not do is keep track of several candidates at once: who has passed which items, which items must still be shown with a client, how many attempts each took and who is ready to finish. That is what this tracker is for.

It is a companion to the official packet, not a replacement. You type each item ID and a short label in your own words from the packet you use, and the tracker does the counting. It does not reproduce BACB wording.

RBT competency assessment questions

Does this replace the BACB RBT competency assessment packet?
No. Use it alongside the official BACB RBT Initial Competency Assessment packet. The tracker records progress; the packet defines the tasks and requirements.
Who can use it?
Assessors such as BCBAs and BCaBAs, training coordinators at ABA agencies, and RBT candidates who want to track their own progress.
How does it decide an item is complete?
An item counts as complete once at least one Pass is logged for that candidate. Items that must be shown with a client need a Pass logged with the method With client.
Can I track many candidates?
Yes, up to 30 candidates and 2,000 observations in one workbook.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Import the .xlsx into Google Sheets. All formulas are standard.
Is this affiliated with the BACB?
No. Greenwolf Tech Labs is not affiliated with or endorsed by the BACB.
